Immediate Energy Saving System at the MACBA museum of contemporary art

Motivation

The managers at MACBA, aware of the need to rationalise consumption in their buildings, commissioned ERF to install a monitoring system and give advice aimed at making immediate energy savings, focused on studying the two main connections (electricity and natural gas) and installing 22 network analysers to determine consumption by application. Using this system, detailed monitoring was conducted in order to reduce consumption through management measures with zero investment cost.

Results

Over the first two years, 50 energy saving measures were proposed, most of which were implemented. This generated savings of 148,000 kWh in 2014 compared to 2013, with an additional 186,000 kWh in 2015.
